Black Lives Matter

We’re a tech company, but everything we do is in the context of the larger world. And right now, shadows from the larger world overwhelm our daily work with bits and bytes.

Thomas Jefferson wrote 244 years ago that our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness must never be compromised, but the events of the past few days show that the United States is still far from that ideal. The murder of innocent African Americans must stop, and silence on this issue is intolerable. As Edmund Burke wrote, the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Announcing Free Office Hours!

The Data Collaborative team is here to help.  We know there are so many people in the Quick Base community that are looking for a quick assist with technical roadblocks, and we want to ensure they get the most out of their applications.  No strings attached.

Starting on April 2, 2020, Data Collaborative is excited to begin offering free tips, tricks and design solutions for an hour every Thursday at 1:00 PM EST.  Staffed by our Quick Base Certified Expert Developers, these sessions will tackle things that you want to change, repair or update.  We can help you solve your application design issues, locate problem sources, or even help you get started building your own app.  Whatever the case may be, we look forward to working together.

Sam Jones, veteran Quick Base Product Manager joins Data Collaborative.

The Data Collaborative, Inc. is pleased to announce that we have hired Sam Jones, a veteran Quick Base Product Manager who lead the development on many of their new features, as its new Vice President for Product and Technology.

Throughout his 5-year tenure at Quick Base, Sam held leadership roles across many aspects of Quick Base’s business. From deep technical features including the Quick Base API and Query Language to releasing user-facing features such as Kanban Reports, the Searchable Record Picker, and leading initial development of the Quick Base Mobile App. Since leaving Quick Base, Sam has worked as a Senior Product Manager in E-commerce AI at Teikametrics, releasing features to Amazon and Walmart Sellers and delivering enterprise-scale data analysis architecture for Fortune 500 brands.

Robust Quick Base Applications

Just like a person, Quick Base (and all database) applications age over time. Developers add fields, reports and relationships that become obsolete, but don't clean up after themselves. Eventually, there are all kinds of database elements that no one remembers and just confuse the user. The original developers leave the organization and their successors look at the app (originally so well-conceived!) and say "who designed this mess?"

There's no fountain of youth, but there are some things you can do to avoid database sprawl.

1. Isolate the chaos
