We’re a tech company, but everything we do is in the context of the larger world. And right now, shadows from the larger world overwhelm our daily work with bits and bytes.
Thomas Jefferson wrote 244 years ago that our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness must never be compromised, but the events of the past few days show that the United States is still far from that ideal. The murder of innocent African Americans must stop, and silence on this issue is intolerable. As Edmund Burke wrote, the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
At Data Collaborative, we take this responsibility seriously, at work and at home. We do discounted work for non-profits and we encourage staff to be involved in their community by providing flexible schedules whenever possible. Over the years we have turned down work from businesses that have values that we don't support. We are living in a time where we need to stand up for what we believe in. #blacklivesmatter
